About Us

Aging mom with our caregiver

Locally owned and operated

Family owned business, combining the power and experience of a large national agency with the friendly and personal service that is the trademark of Calgarian culture. Providing private in-home care services to all Albertans over the age of 18, with a wide range of services to help the elderly, persons with disabilities and adults in rehabilitation.

Our in-home care services including live-in, 24 hour, dementia support services, respite care for family caregivers, post hospital recovery, and much more to individuals wishing to preserve their independence and continue living at home.

We hire only certified caregivers that share a work ethic similar to our own, and a desire to be part of a business that operates on the premise of not just making a buck but, with a genuine desire to help people live their life the way they want.

Our Purpose

Everyone who works at Senior Home Care by Angels provides compassionate client and caregiver centered care. We treat those in our care WITH care. We take time to educate and develop relationships with our clients and their families and other caregivers. We listen and communicate well so we can understand our clients’ needs. First and foremost, we are care givers, and we treat our clients with respect, dignity, and compassion.

Deliver services based upon person-centered care, also referred to as patient-centered care, “empowering people to take charge of their own health rather than being passive recipients of services.” To accomplish this, physicians, nurses, and Home Care staff must be trained to listen to, inform, and consult patients throughout the healthcare continuum, as well as to consider individual preferences, needs, and values when making clinical decisions.

Help our clients be as independent as possible, to provide comfort to them and enhance quality of life. We do so in a way that is safe, therapeutic, and promotes dignity and respect.

Values

INTEGRITY, DEPENDABILITY, COMPASSION, AND SERVICE

These are the values our agency is built on and operate each day.

We are open, honest and transparent with our communication in all our interactions.

People are our great strength – We prioritize diversity and embrace all cultures, provide career opportunities with a fair wage, training, open and honest communication, support and encouragement.

We dedicate ourselves to exceeding our clients’ expectations by taking the time to get to know the families we work with, and what is most important to them and their loved one. This is a very personal service and take the time to introduce our caregivers prior to the assignment of any shift, conducting frequent satisfaction check ins and home visits, and providing regular updates to the family. Taking the time to build a relationship with our clients and being very much a part of the health care solution

Melissa graduated from Columbia College in 2016 as an LPN. Initially Melissa wanted to be a pediatric nurse but found her passion working with seniors and other vulnerable people. Since graduating, Melissa has worked with both public and private homecare agencies as well as an assisted living and long-term care facility. What Melissa loves most about working in private home care is the ability to build lasting relationships with her clients and providing the best care possible while keeping clients comfortable in their own homes! Always eager to learn and grow, Melissa is currently finishing up her foot care certification and is looking forward to getting some hands-on experience.

Celina Carbrey-Fredriksen

” Celina graduated from the Practical Nursing program at Lethbridge College in 2018. She began her career as an LPN working in acute general/cardiac medicine at Rocky View Hospital, where she had completed her final practicum as a nursing student. She discovered her passion for working with seniors, as she consistently advocates for the senior population to be treated with dignity and maintain their independence. Laurie Hobbs

Laurie Hobbs – Director of Care, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Clinical Educator

Laurie Hobbs graduated from the Practical Nursing program at Bow Valley College here in Calgary in 2001. She began her career as an LPN working with the palliative pediatrics team before getting married and moving to Saskatchewan in 2003. In 2012 Laurie was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. It was through her experiences as a healthcare patient herself that she found her passion for client advocacy and client education. Since then, Laurie has focused her attention on community care and community outreach. She believes that an informed client is an empowered client! Laurie remains cancer free but the experience continues to shape her world.

Jeanette Fleming   Jeanette Fleming – Human Resource Manager

With working in the Health sector for the last 9 years, obtaining my Human Resources diploma and striving to finish my degree its safe to say that helping others has always been my true passion. The driving force behind my passion is my family, everything I do is for our future and to show my 3 children that anything is possible with the right work ethic and attitude. Being born and raised in Calgary in an old-fashioned household i’ve learned to take things that come my way with a grain of salt and that tomorrow is another day. With keeping that in mind, a few of my hobbies include weekly coffee at a family members to catch up, camping, volunteering at one of the 8 organizations I regularly help, watching my children reach their goals and sitting down to a good book.
I’m very thankful to be apart of the Senior Homecare by Angels family and pride myself around having a strong bond with our clients and team members. It’s always very exciting when somebody finds their calling – when you can open your eyes and are excited to see what the day brings.

Gerry Gatto    Gerry Gatto, Owner-Director

Gerry was born and raised in Calgary, and as the owner of the business, he takes this responsibility seriously with everything he does for his clients. Gerry has a business management background and is a trained health care administrator and knows the importance of customer satisfaction.

As a son of aging parents, Gerry was well aware of the limited services available that truly catered to the client, that helped maintain a familiar quality of life, while keeping the client at home for as long as possible. This is where his journey started with Senior Home Care and eventually opened an office in Calgary to address the growing need for a customer focused in-home care solution.
